Past, present, & future

In 1990, Bill Patenaude, recently graduated from a Massachusetts trade school, began his working career, in an extremely challenging economy. Unable to find employment in the industry for which he had prepared himself, he applied for an entry-level position with a family-owned New Hampshire automotive group.

Expectations for his new position were unknown to Bill, but he was fortunate enough to start out with some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry. Having inherited a passion for beautiful automobiles from his father, who restored classic cars as a hobby, Bill tapped into those experiences, applying them to the detailing process, and then mastering his skills.

In 1998, the group split into two pieces, creating an opportunity for Bill to deliver reconditioning services back to the dealerships on an independent outsourced basis, and Professional Car Care was born. He also began distributing automotive detailing supplies at that time – a perfect complement to the reconditioning business.

Within two years, Bill had grown the supply business to more than 250 customers and was providing reconditioning services to several dealerships. He could see, however, that the services side he created from scratch had a future of more robust growth, so he divested himself of the distributorship and focused his full attention on PCC.

Today, Professional Car Care provides new car dealers with an alternative to the traditional way of staffing their reconditioning departments and, as Bill predicted, outsourcing has become the most popular way for dealers to prep new and used vehicles, and to offer detailing through their service departments.

The company now services over forty dealerships in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, provides careers to more than one hundred of the most talented people in the reconditioning industry, continues to grow, and Bill Patenaude’s passion to provide exceptional, professional service to the automobile dealer segment shines through every day.
